The Challenge
Many startups focus heavily on building products and acquiring users. Far fewer spend time designing the business systems required to support long-term growth.
As Bside-Me evolved, the opportunity extended beyond the mobile application itself. The platform had the potential to connect brands, celebrities, agencies, and consumers through interactive mobile experiences and targeted advertising.
The challenge was not simply creating another social application. The challenge was designing a sustainable business model capable of supporting growth while creating value for every participant in the ecosystem.
My Role
As Chief Product Officer, I helped shape both the product vision and the commercial infrastructure behind the platform.
This included:
Product strategy and feature planning
Mobile application concepts and user experiences
Monetization and advertising models
Campaign management workflows
Analytics and reporting systems
Agency, advertiser, and celebrity engagement concepts
Product and platform design
As opportunities emerged around advertising and sponsorship, I helped design concepts that would allow brands to create interactive mobile campaigns while providing measurable value to advertisers, agencies, and celebrity partners.
I also developed concepts for campaign management and analytics platforms that would allow stakeholders to monitor performance, engagement, and advertising effectiveness across multiple campaigns.

As mobile technology matured, there were more options to advertise on Bside-Me apps. I used the mobile phones capabilities to serve up innovative advertising methods like 3D rotation of sports shoes.
Backend tools had to be created to not only give insight to celebrities but also to their management teams and the advertisers who they would bring to the platform.
Key Insights
Building a product and building a business are not the same thing.
Many organizations focus on user acquisition while postponing conversations about monetization, incentives, and operational scalability.
Sustainable growth requires more than a great product. It requires an ecosystem where users, partners, advertisers, and stakeholders all receive value from participating.
The most successful platforms are often those that align incentives across the entire network rather than focusing solely on end users.
Results

Why It Matters
Many promising products struggle because monetization is treated as an afterthought.
The ability to design a business ecosystem around a product can be just as important as the product itself. Growth becomes significantly easier when incentives, stakeholders, and revenue models are considered from the beginning.
Takeaway
Great products attract users. Great platforms create value for everyone in the ecosystem.
